Exaggerated Disapproval

Despite laughing hysterically as I wrote my last post about birders, I believe that in the end, the piece didn’t go over very well. I received shaking heads and disapproving remarks. I was accused of being angry and filled with hate.

I personally disagree that I’m full of hate. I admit that I often write negative and disparaging remarks about things that I don’t like. Everyone should keep in mind that I write most of these things in jest. It is the sheer amount of over-the-top exaggeration that goes into it that, at least in my mind, turns it from being hateful into being funny. It’s part of my sense of humor that I express such overblown things.

I can assure you all that I love multitudes more of things than I hate.

Sure, I think that birdwatching is silly. Do I hate and despise everyone involved in that activity? No. I don’t care if you enjoy watching birds. It has no effect on me whatsoever. You can do whatever you choose. I was only trying to be funny by taking it so far. Everyone can relax now.

Complete side-note: I like the indirect title I put on this post. Expect more of this.
