Rabbit Rabbit Facebook Fan Page

To make a long story short, “rabbit rabbit” is a phrase you’re supposed to say on the first of every month for good luck. I’ve written about this in the past, but the topic needs revisiting.

Some time ago, my friend Chad created a Facebook fan page called “Rabbit Rabbit.” He generously made me an administrator of the page. In the early days the fan page only had a dozen fans. We are now up to nearly 100 fans. I would like to see that number rise to 1000 and beyond. This week I created a permanent username for the page so that it now has its own direct URL on Facebook. I’m hoping that by giving the page it’s own unique URL that it will start to appear on search engines and elsewhere. The address is: facebook.com/rabbitrabbitpage

Any Facebook user who is a fan of the page is allowed to make posts to the wall and even post pictures! That said, I monitor this very closely. Last week a user posted a spam advertisement for a website selling rabbit food. I believe that spam showed up on the news feeds of everyone who is a fan of the page. Let me be clear that I will not tolerate junk posts to our page, and I will bring the hammer down on anybody who does. So behave yourselves!

It’s also worth nothing that there is a page on Wikipedia that explains the origins of Rabbit Rabbit. It’s an interesting read, but Chad and I had nothing to do its creation or content.

Rabbit Rabbit! Today is February 1st, 2010. A few months ago, my longtime good friend Chad made a Facebook fan page for the act of saying “Rabbit Rabbit” on the first day of every month. I’ve posted on this topic before. To date, we have 14 Facebook fans on the page. Both Chad and I are the two page administrators. Become a fan and receive good luck. Hehe!

Mafia Wars on Facebook

My favorite application on Facebook at the moment is Mafia Wars. It’s pretty addictive. I stumbled on it by clicking an ad while playing in another app. In the game you start a virtual crime family with your friends. You earn money and respect buy doing virtual crime jobs, fighting other mafia families, and buying property. Your money is spent building and maintaining your arsenal of weapons and defenses. Mafia Wars is a detailed, well thought-out game, and a simple and fun way to pass the time. Check it out!

Mouse Hunt on Facebook

One of my favorite Facebook applications is a game called Mouse Hunt. The concept sounds pretty silly when you try to explain it to someone. Essentially, it’s a game where you set a virtual mouse trap and earn game points and gold for every mouse you find in your trap. There are several virtual “towns” to hunt in, and you spend your gold to buy better traps and cheeses. There are many varieties of mice to catch, and the mice evolve as you increase your hunting status. I started as a Novice user, then worked my way up past Journeyman status to reach Master status.

In the big picture of life, this game is meaningless, and really serves no purpose whatsoever. But it is quite fun to check in on, and can become quite addicting. If you use Facebook, try adding this app. Mouse Hunt was rated 4.9 out of 5 stars after over 1000 votes on Facebook. That makes a pretty good case for giving it a try.

Hooked on Facebook

I’ve used sites like Facebook and MySpace for a couple of years now. I used to log on when I got a notification email from one of the sites, which was only occasionally. I don’t do very much on MySpace anymore. I mostly just maintain my profile as a way for old friends to find me. My habits on Facebook have typically been pretty much the same since I signed up long ago.

Fast-forward to today, and I’m hooked on Facebook! I prefer it to MySpace by about 10-to-1. I’ve become addicted all all of the apps you can add to Facebook. I’ve come to enjoy apps like: Word Challenge, Pieces of Flair, The Hatchery, Super Wall, Battle Masters, SimmBook, and so on. I find myself signing in several times a day to check up on things and to boost my standings.

The recent addition of integrated instant messaging in Facebook has only sweetened the deal. It works very well. I like being able to see at a single glance if I have any friends online, regardless of what page I’m viewing on the site.

While MySpace has grown stale to me, Facebook is evolving. I’ve read a few articles predicting a type of “Facebook fatigue” would eventually set in for most users. So far, for me, this has not been the case.
