iPhone
updated 12.10.11
I have an Apple iPhone 3GS and absolutely adore it. It’s my favorite possession. I bought my phone in February 2010. It was my first smartphone. I created this page to showcase my favorite iPhone apps. In June 2010, the iPhone 4 was released, with the new 4S model released in late 2011. I haven’t yet upgraded to the new phone!
All of the apps I have listed work on both the phone and the iPod Touch (except for a few GPS-specific apps.) Fortunately, the latest iPod Touch has a camera, so finally Touch users can use the camera-specific apps. Older 2nd generation iPod Touches may not work with some new apps (like Flipboard, for example.)
The apps below are all third-party apps. I do make plenty of use of the apps that are bundled with iOS. I use Mail, Calendar, and Maps the most, but some others as well. With the release of iOS5, Twitter is now integrated into the operating system.
I’d like to toss out the following thought on paid apps: A few people I know who have iPhones are reluctant to spend 99¢ or $1.99 for an app. Too many people refuse to pay for apps and only use the free apps, or the lite version of a paid app. That grates on my nerves. If you’re willing to shell out the money for an iPhone and the contract for voice and data service to that phone, you can shell out a few bucks for some quality content. Most of my favorite apps are not free, and I make no apologies for that.
The app links below direct to AppShopper.com. It is a great website with descriptions and detailed information about each app. From there, you’ll find a link to each app on the iTunes App Store if you so desire.
